It seems we’ve lost
Not because people are kneeling
Not because people aren’t kneeling
Not because every individual has a different opinion
We’ve lost because the expansion of opinion has become more important than the expansion of heart
The meaning of a flag
and the color of ones skin
Have taken priority over inviting people into our lives
Its become more important than loving our enemies
Its become more important than preferring those who have persecuted my opinion
We have allowed importance of opinions, and the importance of one’s skin color
To take priority over connecting with individual people
Quite simply, these have hindered us from meeting incredible people
And seeing them for who they are
Or worse yet
hindering them from becoming more of who they were made to be
It seems as though the feeling of defeat has come from inside
As a whole, not being willing to accept diversity
The world has never been good with diversity, ever since I can remember
There has always been a tension that has to do with the color of our skin
But now we have digressed into a tension that has to do with the difference of opinion
My opinion is right
My opinion is the opinion that you ought to have
And if you don’t, then I don’t agree with you as a person
This right here
Is where we have lost
We have taken our eyes off of True Love
We have made our salvation through education, power, success, and now opinions
Maybe
Just maybe
We are to look past that and invite others to dine at the table where we sit
Maybe we are to invite others to sit at the Lord’s table
Regardless of all differences
Regardless of their meaning of the flag
regardless of the color of their skin
We are all one
I hope we find the courage to live so
