Im a fighter
It’s in my blood
It’s in my nature
It’s in me
Simply to fight
I need to be against
Doesn’t matter what
But I need it
My mind knows it
My body knows it
My spirit knows it
I can feel it
When i dont fight
It doesnt seem right
Its not that i have to illuminate light
Or be a light
But simply for my nature
To fight
But what gives me the right?
I criticize the way others fight
I see fighters
They fight
White supremacy
The KKK
Black lives matter
White lives matter
All lives matter
Black dreams matter
LGBTQ
One way or another
We’ve all found a fight
Every place in the world
Has a fight
But somewhere along the way
We’ve lost sight
My heart is burdened at night
When I hear of the way we fight
Why?
Why?
Why do we fight?
Is it pure hatred?
Is it racism?
Is it fear?
Is it a sickness
That’s infected our hearts
By what we hear
When did we get this way?
Has it been our fate?
Maybe we believe it’s our fate
To now live in hate
And that’s why we’re stuck this way
But Oh Christ no!
I won’t take that as an answer
I have to fight
I have to fight with Hope
I have to fight with Faith
I have to fight with Peace
I have to fight as if I am simply aware
That you haven’t left us
And the only way I could know
That you haven’t left
Is if I’m putting in time
To align my mind with Thine
Maybe, just maybe, that’s where we lost sight
May I align mine
